What foods can I put in the mesh bags? Use Blue Lotus Mesh Produce Bags for fruits and vegetables like potatoes, onions, apples and oranges. Blue Lotus Mesh Bags are made with an open weave that allows for good air circulation around produce. The mesh bag is best with vegetables that don’t need as much moisture retention. Store fruits and vegetables in the mesh bags on the counter, in the pantry, or in the fridge. Can I store my produce in the bags in the fridge? Yes. We suggest moistening your bulk bags slightly with water and then placing the bag in the crisper section of your fridge. Your moisture loving vegetables will stay fresh and crisp. How long will fruits and vegetables last in the fridge? Fruits and vegetables will store in the fridge for more than a week in our cotton bulk bags. When storing water loving vegetables like carrots, broccoli and greens moisten bag lightly every couple of days or when bags become dry. Can I store dried goods in the bags in the pantry? Yes. Just like the old days when rice and beans came in huge sacs, these modern day versions will store items just the same. Make sure bags are tightly sealed so moths or other insects don’t get in. We do recommend, however, that foods be transferred to glass jars for longer-term storage to avoid foods from becoming rancid or going stale, especially nuts, seeds, or flours. Why is organic cotton so important to use? Supporting organic cotton agriculture is a win-win for all involved. There are no pesticides, herbicides or other harmful chemicals used in the growing of organic cotton that is pervasive in commercially grown cotton. Commercial cotton crops are one of the most heavily sprayed crops in all of agriculture. The soil, watersheds, insects, pollinators, farmers and even consumers are all negatively impacted by these practices. What's wrong with using plastic bags, especially if I reuse them? Plastic bags will never biodegrade. That’s right, they will never ever biodegrade! Plastic bags photo degrade into smaller and smaller particles that permeate all aspects of our environment, and the harm is being done most drastically in our oceans. And why not reuse plastic bags? Plastic bags are known to leach harmful chemicals into foods as the plastic breaks down or come into contact with heat (including the sun) or fatty foods. These chemicals are known endocrine disruptors and may contribute to other serious health problems. BlanketsIsn't all fleece made from recycled plastic?NO. While all synthetic fleece is essentially plastic fibers, only products that use fiber which was once a plastic bottle or container and then chipped up, melted down and re-spun unto fiber can make the claim to be recycled. (Click here for more information about Ecospun™) Can the Blue Lotus Outdoor Blankets be washed? Yes! Our blankets can be washed in cold water in the washing machine. You can either drip dry (that is the energy saving way to go) or you can dry in the dryer on a low delicate cycle. What recycled materials is the fleece made from? The fleece in our recycled collection is made from post consumer recycled #1 and #2 plastic bottles. In addition to its environmental benefits, this low-pill fabric meets or exceeds all industry standards for strength, shrinkage, and color fastness. This eco fleece reduces the burden on the world's landfills and natural resources, and provides a viable end-use for recycled post-consumer PET containers. What makes them "outdoor" blankets? Blue Lotus Outdoor Blankets are double sided with soft warm fleece on one side and a water resistant nylon on the other side. These are both durable materials that are perfect for outdoor use and will keep you warm and dry. These blankets are perfect for camping, the beach, boating, concerts, kids activities, and your pets. How many plastic bottles are in one of your "recycled" blankets? By weight, approximately 18 one-liter bottles are in the fiber of each of our "recycled" outdoor blankets. What's the size of your outdoor blankets? Our outdoor blankets are approximately 60" wide and 72" inch long. Return to Top |
