Blue Lotus Blankets

Frequently Asked Questions
Isn’t all fleece made from recycled plastic?
NO. While all synthetic fleece is essentially plastic fibers, only products that use fiber which was once a plastic bottle or container and then chipped up, melted down and re-spun unto fiber can make the claim to be recycled. (Click here for more information about Ecospun™)
How many plastic bottles are in one of your blankets?
By weight, approximately 18 one-liter bottles are in the fiber of each of our Santa Cruz Collection outdoor blankets.
What’s the size of your blankets?
Our outdoor blankets are approximately 60” wide and 72” inch long. Our baby blankets are approximately 29” by 36”.
Can I get a custom order size?
Yes. We can accommodate special order sizes, however we are limited in the width to 60”, as this is the width of the bolt of fleece fabric.
Can they be washed?
Yes. Cold water in the washing machine and then drip-dried. They can also be dried in the dryer on a low delicate cycle if you are in a hurry. NO bleach!
What is polartec™?
This is the brand name of the original fleece developed by Malden Mills in Massachusetts. It is the highest quality fleece available and is guaranteed not to pill when washed.
Any discounts?
We offer a 10% discount for orders of 5 or more blankets and have additional volume discounts for larger quantities purchased.
Where can I see them?
The best place to see our blankets is on our web site. However if you want to touch one, feel free to visit us at the many Art and Wine Festivals we attend throughout the year. Click here for our current shows. If you happen to be in the Santa Cruz area we can arrange to show you our blankets with just a little notice.
Can I buy them in stores and catalogs?
No. We manufacture and distribute them ourselves to ensure you the best possible price.
Can I have them embroidered or monogrammed?
Custom embroidery is one of our specialties. We have embroidered beautiful logos for wineries, nurseries, music festivals, universities, city governments and many local businesses. They have used these as gifts for their clients and staff as well as promotional items for sale. Please call for more information or visit our embroidery page.
Do you have a store?
Not yet!
What is the Coop America Business Network?
This is the largest association of socially responsible businesses in the world. Blue Lotus has been approved for inclusion in their National Green Pages directory, America’s honor roll of green companies, and pledges to conduct business according to standards that reach beyond contemporary practices in addressing the needs of consumers, employees, the community and the environment.
Why do you call yourselves a sustainable business?
We are striving to earn this title every day. We almost exclusively utilize fleece that is either made from the fiber of recycled plastic bottles or manufactured from a Mill that values its workers and the environment as its paramount values. Our sewers are paid a fair living wage. We print our promotional material paper on paper with significant post consumer recycled content, minimize our packaging and aim to educate the community about the importance and value of recycling at every one of the many shows and festivals we attend to sell our blankets. We say we strive, for every day we must make decisions, that place an immediate and additional economic cost onto the values we uphold. We use sustainability, economic justice and a regard for the environment in addition to profitability as a guide for our business decisions.
