Blue Lotus is a family run business committed to providing practical and sustainable goods that are healthy for people and our planet since 1999. We work and get our inspiration from our headquarters in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains in Northern California. Jill, a certified Holistic Family Nutritionist and her husband, Lorin, who holds a Masters degree in Sustainable Business Management are passionate about the work they do and are working to help co-create a thriving and just world for their two boys and all of the earth’s children.

Jill’s inspiration to make outdoor blankets came from raising kids in the foggy redwood environment and the nearby cold and windy beaches. Her inspiration to make reusable Bags came from a trip to Belize in which our daily walk involved collecting endless plastic debris from the seashore.

We are striving for sustainability every day.

Our produce and bulk food bags are made exclusively with organic cotton.
Our sewers are paid a fair living wage.
Our grocery bags are made from remnant cotton fabrics.
All our bags are specifically created to help us change our shopping habits to ones that are less wasteful and raise our awareness of our impact on our planet.
All our bags can be safely returned to the earth when their life is complete.

Our blankets utilize fleece that is either made from the fiber of recycled plastic bottles (18 one liter bottles/blanket) or are manufactured from a Mill that values its workers and the environment as its paramount values.

We print our limited promotional material on paper with significant post consumer recycled content, minimize our packaging and aim to educate the community about the importance and value of recycling.

We say we strive, for every day we must make decisions, that place an immediate and additional economic cost onto the values we uphold.

We use sustainability, economic justice and a regard for the environment in addition to profitability as a guide for our business decisions.
